PMG Conference 2016

  • 0

This week we were at the 2016 Posture and Mobility Group Conference. if you saw us there, you may have noticed some new products mixed in with the familiar ones - and some new prices too!

Those familiar with the Uniroll range were pleasantly surprised to discover the incredible price drop on the Phönix and Goliath that we presented. And yes, they really are £650 and £995 respectively.

We also introduced many to the partnership between Sumed and Alu Rehab, with the Netti tilt-and-recline range of wheelchairs. The Netti Dynamic was well received at PMG conference, with all its responsive features.

If you didn't have the opportunity to see or visit us at the conference, get in touch with our office or your area manager to find out more about the new, and refresh your memory about everything else.

Call 01457 890 980 or email sales@sumed.co.uk

And of course, thank you to PMG for having us.

Environmental management system standards and Sumed

  • 0

Sumed has been recommended for accreditation after we met the 2015 Environmental Management System standards (ISO14001:2015).

ISO 14001:2015 sets out the criteria for an environmental management system and can be certified to. It maps out a framework that a company or organisation can follow to set up an effective environmental management system. It can be used by any organisation regardless of its activity or sector.

Using ISO 14001:2015 can provide assurance to company management and employees as well as external stakeholders that environmental impact is being measured and improved.

Quality and environmental management system

  • 0

Sumed are currently certified to ISO 9001: 2008, and we are in the midst of intergrating our management systems to incorporate ISO 13485: 2012, ISO 14001: 2015, and ISO 9001: 2015.

We hope to be certified by this spring!

See below the scope of our integrated quality and environmental management system: for more detail see the policies attached.

The scope of the QMS applies to the manufacture, supply and distribution of medical devices for the treatment and prevention of chronic wounds, including wheelchairs and beds for medical use. The supply, manufacture, clean and repair of products for the prevention of and treatment of chronic wounds and the supply and calibration of pressure monitoring devices.

The scope of the EMS includes all activities, products and services carried out at Sumed’s manufacturing and warehouse facility based in Hadfield, Glossop.

Our EMS includes the needs and expectations of interested parties including compliance obligations and takes into account external and internal issues, which may affect the intended outcomes of the management system.

Doing our part for the environment

  • 0

As a supplier and manufacturer of quality branded products and services to healthcare professionals designed for the healing and maintenance of healthy skin Sumed is committed to running its business in a responsible, environmentally sound and sustainable manner.

We recognise that our processes and products have both direct and indirect environmental impact; we will identify the potential for adverse impacts and implement effective ways to eliminate them, or reduce them to an acceptable level. To this end we will continue to actively encourage our suppliers and subcontractors to work with us in this regard.

Looking after the environment is not only our legal duty but the moral duty of us all. Throughout our operations we will fulfil our compliance obligations as a minimum requirement in the interest of protecting the environment and preventing pollution. To assist in this objective, we will align our environmental management system (EMS) to the requirements of the internationally recognised environmental management system Standard ISO 14001.

Exciting opportunity to understand new research into the causes of pressure ulcers AND EARN CPD POINTS!

  • 0

For almost 20 years, Prof. Amit Gefen – Department of Biomedical Engineering, Tel Aviv University and past President of the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP) – has been reviewing current thinking and conducting ground breaking research to try to better understand the causes of pressure ulcers.

In a series of two 1-hour lectures produced in association with Sumed, Prof. Gefen explains his research and fascinating conclusions which, he believes, can lead to increased 'safe-seating' time.

Once you've watched both lectures, simply follow the instructions to print out your self-certified CPD certificate.

Proud to support Peninsula Community Health

  • 0

Sumed is delighted to continue to support Peninsula Community Health who have been selected by the Health Foundation, an independent health care charity, to be part of its £1.5 million innovation programme, Innovating for Improvement.

The initiative from Peninsula Community Health aims to improve pressure damage detection in the community using continuous pressure monitoring of patients. Focusing on older people living in the community, this project will use innovative continuous pressure monitoring technology to identify pressure hot spots much earlier and so prevent actual damage occurring. Through this, it will be possible to determine whether pressure ulcer risk can be self-managed by the patient.

The team will be led by Nicci Aylward-Wotton, community-based Tissue Viability Lead for Peninsula Community Health. Nicci said “We’re thrilled to be part of the Health Foundation’s Innovating for Improvement programme and we can’t wait to get started!”
